Ryan Sweeney The Hardcore scene has been my home since the late 90’s I have watched it change a lot over the years but one thing has remained the same in my eyes that it's always been about giving back. I can recall one of the first benefit shows I went to was dubbed “Hardcore Against Hunger” and featured a really awesome line up. (The Cro Mags, Sick Of It All, Burn, Madball, 25 Ta Life, VOD, Crown of Thornz and civ) I have also watched my friends put on shows for country’s that have been devastated with natural disasters and when Danny Bobis(cipher) passed away the hardcore scene stepped up and raised money for his family. These are just a few events that have taken place over the years.
Well I do not have tons of money myself I do know by being apart of this scene I really don’t need it to help others so I have been asking bands to donate some of their merchandise so I (we) can donate it to a homeless shelter in hopes that as a community we can keep some people warm this winter. I have already collected some gear from these bands Incendiary,Backtrack,Down To Nothing,Sainthood Reps,Bomb The Music Industry and Compound. I obviously couldn’t be doing this with out bands like these and hopefully others who are nice enough to give.
So please if you are in a band or are friends with a band that would want to help out hit me up and let’s do something rad this holiday season.
